Remove ProtectWindowsManager.exe Infection Permanently?

ProtectWindowsManager.exe is a nasty threat that highly consumes your system’s RAM and CPU to make your PC run severely slow. Once it accesses your PC, it generates random processes at the background to perform harmful activities. Most of these actions can bypass detection of your firewall, and even though you have some well known antivirus software such as AVG or Norton, it cannot help you
terminate them completely. This is because that ProtectWindowsManager.exe randomly changes its path and name frequently, thus your system protector cannot catch up the threat’s changing speed to detect all harmful actions. Moreover, the infection deletes some of your system files and creates many random files to mess up everything and cause big system malfunction to your machine. 1. Boot your infected computer into Safe Mode with Networking Win xp/vista/win 7: Restart your computer and keep pressing F8 key before Windows launches.

Use the arrow keys to select the "Safe Mode with Networking" option, and then hit ENTER key to continue.

Start and login the infected computer until you see the desktop. Press the Ctrl+ Alt+ Del combination key, the Switch User interface will pop-up.

Always hold down the "Shift" key on the keyboard and at the same time click on "Shut down" button once on the bottom right corner of the page. You will get three options there: Sleep, Shut down and Restart. Click on Restart option. The next window says ‘Choose an Option’ screen, and then you need to select "Troubleshoot". On the troubleshoot page click on ‘Advanced Options’. In the following window choose ‘startup settings’. Choose ‘restart’, and then wait for a minute. Windows will automatically display Safe mode options. At last press F5/5 key to highlight "Safe Mode with Networking" option, hit Enter key as well. Later after that, Windows 8 Operating system will be booted up in safe mode with networking. 2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+Shift+Esc combination to open Windows Task Manager and end suspicious processes. If it does not work, please click the Start button, click the Run option, input taskmgr and press OK. The Windows Task Manager should be open.


3. Show all hidden files and clean all the harmful files created by ProtectWindowsManager.exe. Click the Start menu and choose Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization, to find Folder Options then double-click on it.


In the pop-up dialog box, click the View tab and check Show hidden files, folders, and drives under Hidden files and folders category.

Delete all malicious files about this infection as below: %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\random.exe %Temp%\random.exe %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\~random %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\.dll4. Remove malicious registry entries related to ProtectWindowsManager.exe.
